Chinese Muslim Culture Renewal Foundation (CMCRF) is a non-profit religious organization with the sole purpose of promoting Chinese muslim culture, increasing people's understanding about Chinese muslims (including those in the United States) and, therefore, contributing to cultural and religious diversity, tolerance and peace in the world.

Reasons for establishing CMCRF

Since China began reforming and openning up to the world from the late 1970s, many world religions, especially Christianity, have developed a large number of cultural projects in order to enhance Chinese understanding of their teachings and values. The continually growing scholarly circle on religions, which produces an increasing amount of good research works, has greatly enriched Chinese culture and scholarship in recent years. In comparison, Chinese muslims, though with a great number (at least 20 millions), remained at the margin of Chinese culture and scholarship and largely unknown to the world. Lack of systematic efforts to foster scholars and experts and to effectively engage in mainstream scholarly discussions, Chinese muslims found themselves surrounded by all kinds of misunderstandings and misrepresentations by others, which often led to conflicts. In order to promote Chinese muslim culture, foster a positive, objective and healthy scholarly environment for research on Chinese muslims, avoid cnflicts and contribute to world peace, we established this Foundation.
